Lyme Regis Museum is closed until June 2017 for the construction of the Mary Anning Wing extension. Fossil walks, town walks, Mary Anning Walks and other events are still running. Read the full story about the Mary Anning Wing.
Lyme Regis Museum houses some fantastic fossils and is a great place to learn about the long history of fossil collecting in the area and the deep links between Lyme Regis and the history of science going back two hundred years. Visit the museum to find out about Mary Anning, the greatest fossil hunter that ever lived and William Buckland, known as ‘the father of geology’.
The museum also runs excellent and entertaining guided fossil walks with local geologists. Times vary depending on the tides. Click here for the current fossil walks timetable.
