Plant leaf

Perfect plants

These beautiful fossilised leaves were found in an amazing plant bed in the rock layer called the Poole Formation. It was once possible to collect fossils from the sea front there, but a sea wall now prevents erosion so few specimens can be found today – and you shouldn’t collect there anyway. Working quarries may still uncover the plant bed but obviously permission would be required to enter and collect from them.
