Levels of Giving

The Jurassic Coast Trust offers three levels of annual financial contribution for our Business Partners.

  • At least £250 per year for small businesses
  • At least £500 per year for medium-sized businesses
  • At least £1,000 per year for large businesses

Our Business Partners range from small family-run B&Bs to large, multi-site holiday parks, so our three-tier structure allows each partner to contribute in a fashion commensurate with their size.

There are no hard and fast rules regarding which business goes in which category of giving. We encourage businesses interested in partnering with us to speak to one of our team to determine the level of annual contribution that suits them best. Once an annual contribution amount is agreed, we discuss with each partner how best they can raise their contribution.

Raising Your Contribution

We offer great flexibility to our Business Partners in determining how they can raise their annual contribution. The most popular methods are direct payment, accrued donations, event fundraising and gifts-in-kind.

Direct Payment

Many of our partners are happy to make a direct financial contribution to the Trust via either an annual or regular monthly payments. This is the option of choice for Crabbs Bluntshay Farm Campsite in Broadoak and Hensleigh House in Charmouth, among others.

Accrued Donations

Many of our partners choose to include a small charitable donation component into the cost of one of their products. This can take the form of an optional donation that customers can add, or it can be factored into the cost of the product itself.

Optional Donations

Asking customers to make a small optional donation is a fantastic way for people to give something back to the local area. Optional donations are also an incredibly effective way of fundraising for the Jurassic Coast Trust. Once a donation system is set up, it manages itself and the donations accumulate over time. The money doesn’t come out of your bottom line, but instead represents a small contribution from those who love the Jurassic Coast to ensure its ongoing care.

Current Business Partners who contribute in this way include West Dorset Leisure Holidays, Seaton Tramway, and Norburton Hall in Burton Bradstock.

Optional donation programmes are easy to set up and once established, are hassle-free to maintain. One of our team will enquire every six months about how much you’ve raised, and then invoice accordingly. Our existing partners are more than happy to speak to potential new members about how to set up a donation system.

Donation on Product

You can also include a small voluntary surcharge in the retail price of a particular item such as a coffee, meal or entry ticket. Partners that have adopted this method include Jurassic Skyline in Weymouth, which donates 10% of programme sales to the Trust, and Bridport’s Furleigh Estate, who donate £0.10 from each bottle of “Tyrannosaurus Red” wine sold.

Fundraising Events

Some of our Business Partners choose to run fundraising events such as guided walks and evening talks as a way of raising their annual contribution, in collaboration with our local Ambassadors. Business Partners who raise funds in this way include Higher Wiscombe in East Devon, and Highway Farm in Bridport.

Gifts-in-Kind

Some of our partners donate a gift-in-kind to the Trust each year. Stuart Line Cruises and City Cruises Poole provide free use of their boat for an evening, through which the Trust runs a fundraising evening cruise. If you’d like to contribute as a Business Partner through a gift-in-kind, please let us know and we can discuss whether it would be feasible.
