Jurassic Coast Information Officer
Katie Thomson is the Jurassic Coast Information Officer and responsible for the marketing and communications. She manages the online presence of the Jurassic Coast and is the first point of contact for the Team. Her job involves coordinating and writing content for this website and being the main contributor to the Jurassic Coast social media channels. Katie can often be found helping out at events and enjoys working closely with all members of the team to raise awareness of the Dorset and East Devon Coast.
Katie worked for the Team in the past on the Big Jurassic Classroom project where she inspired children and young people to engage with the World Heritage Site in the year that the Olympics came to Dorset. She has a degree in Architecture and a keen interest in both natural and cultural heritage; things she put to good use when she worked as a tour guide for the National Trust.
Having grown up in the Isle of Purbeck, Katie loves nothing better than taking coastal walks with her dog Archie.
Katie Thomson’s Jurassic Coast Hotspot
‘For me it has to be Worbarrow Bay near Tyneham. There’s something about the rambling one mile journey down to the sea, with the big reveal at the end, that adds to its drama. It never fails to impress! If you take a flask of tea and some biscuits you can while away many an hour beach combing, stone skimming or simply taking in the spectacular view.’
