It’s the season of love, Valentine’s Day is almost here and with its impressive views and thousands of years of history, the Jurassic Coast is a wonderfully romantic location to show your appreciation of your partner.

Whether you’re looking for a day trip, an activity, an over night stay or just somewhere for a romantic meal, there is something for everyone in the Jurassic Coast.

If you’re looking for a romantic place to stay, you’ll find everything from cute and cosy cottages, to luxury hotels and unique glamping pods – so whatever suits you and your partner, you can enjoy a romantic get away.

Here are a few suggestions to help you plan the perfect stay.

For an impressive place to stay with incredible views, take a look at the Victoria Hotel in Sidmouth. Perched above the Esplanade and set in a grand Victorian building, the Victoria offers an award winning combination of comfort, luxury, good food, excellent service and top rate facilities.

The Heights Hotel is another great option for a romantic stay. Set on the summit of the Ise of Portland, there are stunning beaches here too and puts you in a convenient place to explore some of the coast’s best loved towns and villages.

For something a little more unique, Mallinson’s Woodland Retreat features three award winning luxury treehouses, each one in a self-contained nest for two with their own facilities and no kids allowed! Each of the unique spaces are built band hand, have your own private deck, ensuite, flushing loo, treetop hot tub and wood-fired pizza oven. These are a truly unique option for the couple that loves trying something new.

A popular choice for Valentine’s Day is booking a romantic meal and throughout the Jurassic Coast, there are some incredible places to eat. This part of the world is blessed with an amazing natural larder, full of fresh, seasonal ingredients, so our restaurants and eateries are ideal for treating your favourite person.

Hive beach Café

has several branches, each one with food as amazing as the views. The Club House at West Bexington, right on Chesil Beach is an AA rosette-winning eatery and for Valentine’s Day, they are offering a special three course menu – make sure to book early to avoid disappointment.

Not able to make it for Valentine’s? Don’t worry, Hive Beach Café offer a range of experiences and events throughout the year, including cream teas for two, cocktail master classes and more – so you can always gift your loved one a trip in the future!

Another option is the Salt Pig, which has branches in Wareham and Swanage. The Swanage restaurant, Salt Pig Too, seats 50 guests, making it an intimate venue and is a stone's throw away from the Swanage beach.  The restaurant receives fresh fish and shellfish from local fishermen on a daily basis and all of their meat is local and of the highest quality, making it an excellent option for a special occasion.

If you’re the kind of couple who likes to spend time together learning something new or experiencing something a little out of the ordinary – you’ll find plenty to enjoy in the Jurassic Coast. Why not book something like a vineyard or brewery tour? It’ll give you a chance to learn more about your favourite tipples, try a few and enjoy a few hours together. Both Dorset and Devon are home to a range of different vineyards, distilleries and breweries and have award winning drinks on offer. One option is Lyme Regis Brewery where you can help out with making the brew of the day or just wander around learning more about how their products are made.

Another option is a guided tour, like those on offer with City Cruises Poole. Their sightseeing cruses depart from Poole Quay and Swanage Pier and offer a host of different themed and guided voyages.

You don’t even need to leave your home to give the gift of the Jurassic Coast. Visit the Jurassic Coast shop to find fun, unique gifts for your loved one. That’s not the only place you can find amazing gifts from the Jurassic Coast. If you have a tea lover in your life, grab them something from Dorset Tea or an ice cream fiend, see what is on offer from Purbeck ice cream

We hope this has given you some inspiration so you have the most romantic Valentine’s possible. Spend your day in the region? Don’t forget to tag us in your photos!
