Trustees of the Jurassic Coast Trust (JCT) announce that Lucy Culkin, Chief Executive Officer, will be leaving the role at the end of the year, after 7 years with the Trust and 5 years in role as CEO.

Lucy joined JCT in September 2017, just a brief time after the Trust became responsible for World Heritage Site Management of the Dorset and East Devon Coast, devolved from Dorset and Devon Council.

During her tenure, Lucy has developed the strategy and led the team to deliver the 2020-2025 Site Partnership Plan, which involves stakeholders across the 95 mile stretch of coast.

She has developed and secured funding for many projects which have benefitted the World Heritage Site, including a 3 year Coastal Communities grant from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government; 5 years of funding to develop palaeontological research and progress options to secure the future of fossils found on the Jurassic Coast via the Jurassic Coast Collection programme and developed relationships and projects with Natural England, DEFRA, landowners, National Trust, business and local museums.

Derrick Ryall, Chair of Trustees says:

“Lucy’s passion, energy and dedication to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site is unrivalled! She is a true advocate and has invested so much into developing projects which have a benefit to our local communities and stakeholders. She will be missed by us all, but we wish her well in her next role, knowing that she will be strongly supporting the coast from the sidelines.”

Lucy leaves JCT to join a national research charity as their incoming CEO from the new year.

The Jurassic Coast Trust will be inviting applications for an interim CEO role in the near future.
