The first firm record of Prattshayes (formerly known as Sprattshayes) is that it was owned by the family of Sir Francis Drake in the late 1500s. It was then acquired by the Pratt family (who changed the name) in 1685. It is now a National Trust property run by RED Rock Leisure.
Prattshayes has a campsite, holiday cottage, lodge accommodation and is a country wedding venue. It is also a busy activity centre providing watersports and land-based activities (such as archery and forest skills) from the site at the start of the Jurassic Coast – Orcombe Point, Exmouth.
Exmouth offers a variety of conditions for watersports, from a glistening millpond to rolling waves. This allows beginners to learn a new sport, or provides the perfect location for those looking to improve their skills. Qualified instructors are able to teach paddle boarding, windsurfing and kitesurfing. Equipment hire is also available if you want to have a go at windsurfing, kitesurfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, surfing or bodyboarding on your own.
