Led by Dorset County Council Archaeologist Steve Wallis
Meet near the Swan Inn in Abbotsbury at 5.45pm sharp (to avoid walking back in darkness!).
We will then converge into the fewest cars possible for the short drive to the walk’s starting point in a layby near the village.
We will start walking at 6.00pm, with a nice gentle pace taking us on the circular walk that includes the South Dorset Ridgeway. Our walk will take in a Neolithic long-barrow, one of Dorset’s few ancient stone circles, an Iron Age hillfort and a couple of surprises too! Hopefully this will be accompanied by lovely evening views over the Jurassic Coast.
We will then return to the village around 9.00pm, roughly coinciding with sunset time.
Please bring adequate footwear for the walk. There are some muddy stretches but good quality hiking boots will be sufficient. Please also bring warm clothing for the evening chill and a supply of water for the walk.
