Visit Goat Island, perhaps the most famous part of the Undercliffs reserve. On Christmas Eve 1839 a massive section of cliff slid seaward in an event known as the ‘Great Landslip’, causing a chasm to form behind the landslide block which is now known as Goat Island. Take is some spectacular views, learn about your local landscape, chalk grassland management and the associated plants and animals, including some summer orchids.
Walk Notes: Some steep steps and uneven ground. Rough terrain. Walking boots essential. Bring a packed lunch and drink. You must be physically fit and able. Please declare any medical conditions when booking. Approximately 4 miles. No dogs.
