Led by Jurassic Coast Ambassador Geoff Rowland
A circular walk of 8 km (5 mile). Starting 2pm and continuing to 6pm.
Starting at West Bay (meet at the big Long Stay Car Park), going inland along the old railway track to Bothenhampton Local Nature Reserve and Wanderswell Quarry, where you can take in the Forest Marble rocks and lime kiln. Then heading east along the ridge to Burton Bradstock. Then over Burton Cliff to Freshwater Beach, and over East Cliff back to West Bay.
Cafes along way if people would like a coffee break. Great views from both the inland ridge and cliff tops.
Fossil shells to be seen in the Forest Marble and perhaps some Inferior Oolite fossils (ammonites, belemnites, brachiopods and sea urchins from the rubble used to extend the caravan site) on the beach at Freshwater.
Geoff will also have a few of his own fossils and a set of our “Jurassic Blox” that tell the story of the Jurassic Coast.
