The Jurassic Coast is the perfect location to explore with your canine companion. There are plenty of dog friendly beaches across the Jurassic Coast that you can use, whatever the time of year.
See the list below for seasonal restrictions. Dogs are allowed on the entire South West Coast Path, and there are many stunning coastal walks you can enjoy together.
Be sure to look after you and your dog's safety, especially near cliff edges. If you would like to alert us to any changes in the information provided below, please get in touch.
Bridport and Abbotsbury Area
Abbotsbury - Chesil Bank Fleet Lagoon Nature Reserve
Dogs welcome at all times.
Burton Bradstock
Burton Bradstock Beach - No dogs between 1 May and 30 September, except on East Beach.
Cogden Beach
Dogs welcome at all times.
Eype Beach
Dogs welcome at all times.
Seatown Beach
Dogs welcome from 1st October until 30th April.
West Bay
No dogs between 1st May and 1st October, except in the port area where they must stay on a lead, the beach under East Cliff (going east towards Freshwater) and the dog beach at the end of the esplanade on the far west side of West Bay.

West Bexington
Dogs welcome at all times within a restricted area.
Charmouth and Lyme Regis Area
Charmouth
East Beach
No dogs between 10am - 6pm during July and August.
West Beach
No dogs between 1st May and 30th September, as far as the bridge at the end of the prom, from which point dogs are allowed on leads westwards towards Lyme Regis.
Lyme Regis
Dogs are allowed on East Cliff Beach, Church Cliff Beach and Monmouth Beach all year round.
Dogs are only allowed on Town Beach from October to April, inclusive.
Dogs must also be kept on the lead at all times when using Marine Parade, Cart Road, Bell Cliff, the harbour, slipway and sea walls, entrance to Cobb Road, Ozone Terrace, entrance to the public car park and boat park, harbour wall, Cobb Gate car park, Gunn Cliff Walk, Church Cliff Walkway, and the steps leading from Church Cliff Walkway to Charmouth Road car park.

East Devon Area
Budleigh Salterton
Dogs are banned from the main beach from 1st May to 30th September, but are welcome on the beach adjacent to the Lime Kiln car park in the east, and at Steamer Steps to the west, all year.
Beer
No dogs on west side of the beach between 1st May - 30th September. The East beach has a "dogs on leads" policy but this is only as far as the last beach hut and down to the high tide line.
Exmouth
Dogs are allowed on the whole beach from 30th of September to the 1st of May. They are allowed on the last stretch of beach at the very end of Queens Drive all year round. There are lots of signposts to tell you which part it is.
Seaton
No dogs between 1st May - 30th September on the main beach (between Castle Hill and the River Axe).
Sidmouth
Dogs are welcome all year on a small area at the east end of the beach, but are not permitted on the main beach between the 1st May and the 30th September.

Lulworth Cove
Dogs welcome at all times.
Man O' War Cove
Dogs welcome at all times.
Studland
Dogs are welcome all year, but from 1st May to 30th September they must be kept on a 2 metre lead on all beaches.
Swanage
No Dogs from 1 May to 30 September on the main beach, but dogs are welcome to use Monkey Beach which is located by the old stone quay, close to the pier.
Worbarrow Bay
Dogs welcome at all times. Check the MOD Firing Times before heading out.
Weymouth and Portland Area
Bowleaze Cove
Dogs welcome at all times.
Church Ope Cove, Portland
Dogs welcome at all times.
Ringstead
Dogs welcome at all times.
Weymouth
No dogs on main beach between Good Friday and 31 October.
Dogs permitted all year round within an allocated dog exercise area at the Pavilion end of the beach.
Should your dog require medical attention whilst visiting the Jurassic Coast, there are number of vets in the area that can offer emergency appointments.
Taking a short walk west along Monmouth Beach at low tide will bring you to the Ammonite Pavement - a number of limestone ledges, washed clear by the sea.

Swanage
South Beach in Studland Bay is a sandy beach, and is fairly narrow compared to neighbouring Studland beaches. As with other Studland Beaches, South Beach is very popular, particularly during peak periods.
