A Natural History Adventure
To celebrate Dippy’s visit to Dorset County Museum, the Jurassic Coast Trust, in collaboration with our partner organisations, is curating an extensive programme of Natural History Adventure events, highlighting the incredible nature of the Jurassic Coast and its surrounding areas.

Butterfly Conservation Day
Lankham Bottom Reserve, near Cattistock

Enjoy a tour of the reserve and take part in a butterfly survey before warming yourself by the bonfire to celebrate Butterfly Conservation’s 50th anniversary. Register your attendance here.
Bat Discovery Day
Beer Quarry Caves

Visit the unique Beer Quarry Caves and meet its winged residents. Plus enjoy bat-themed crafts, face-painting, a nature walk, photo display and Dippy’s replica 3D-printed skull on show. All above ground activities are free, with guided bat tours of the caves available for £5 per person or £15 for a family of four. Read more about the caves and their astonishing history.

Sidmouth Geology Walks

Join Sidmouth Museum’s experts for fun and informative 90-minute geology walks every Wednesday, taking in Sidmouth’s spectacular Triassic cliffs and the town’s fascinating history. Each walk starts at 2.00pm, meeting at the museum.
Dippy Dino Easter

Join Seaton Jurassic’s team for a roarsome Dino Day on Sunday 1 April from 10:00am-4:00pm. Featuring giant walking dinosaurs and dinosaur egg hatchings, ride-on dinosaurs, Dippy’s 3D-printed replica skull and more.
There’ll also be Dino Workshops at 11:00am and 2:00pm to learn about dinosaurs, including a virtual reality experience that will transport you back to a prehistoric world! (Places are limited so booking is required)

Take a Dip in the Jurassic Seas

Discover Dippy’s link to the Jurassic seas by joining Steve Etches MBE for a tour of Kimmeridge Bay on 4 April, followed by Dippy feature days on 12 and 13 April with activities for all.
Dippy Treasure Hunt
Kingcombe Centre, near Dorchester

Hunt for miniature Diplodocus models across the beautiful Kingcombe Meadows Nature Reserve and enjoy arts and crafts activities and dinosaur-themed food and drink in the barn. Plus see Dippy’s 3D-printed replica skull on display throughout the day.

Dinosaur Footprints Walks

Discover dinosaur footprints belonging to Dorset’s very own sauropods, on this series of four leisurely walks led by Jurassic Coast Ambassadors every Saturday in April. Walks start at 12.00 at the legendary Square & Compass pub in Worth Matravers.

Make a Dippy Day

Make a Dippy, or another dinosaur friend, and hide it for families to find. Follow the dino footprints through Bridport to the museum to start the fun.

Come to Moors Valley and meet the creatures that walked with the dinosaurs. Dig for fossils and get involved with lots of nature-related activities and crafts.
