December 2021 marked the 20th anniversary of the inscription of the Jurassic Coast on to the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.

To celebrate, the Jurassic Coast Trust is using the anniversary to catalyse action on many exciting projects throughout 2022. Capitalising on World Heritage values, our team hopes to inspire people to explore this wonderful place and celebrate it with us. Find out more here.

Anniversary projects include:

Digitally exploring the coast, taking a closer look at how those with accessibility requirements can maximise their enjoyment of the coast and bringing the coast to you from the comfort of your own home.

Pebbles People, working with our partners to explore the human connection to geology, one pebble-related story at a time. On the 11th of each month, a new pebble-related 'Pebbles People' video will be posted on our social media pages.

Related to this, is the 'Power the Pebble ' challenge. Join our 'Jurassic Coast Trust ' Strava club to contribute your activity miles to power a pebble virtually from the Jurassic Coast to other UNESCO sites. These sites will be highlighted on our social media feeds, celebrating the UNESCO value of shared heritage.

We are also working hard to deliver more Earth science focused content on the website. 'Our Dynamic Coast ' looks at the changing nature of the World Heritage Site. And excitingly, the Jurassic Coast Collection will be offering many learning opportunities throughout the year. We are currently working with partners to plan a vibrant programme of exhibitions and events that connect visitors with the palaeontology of the Jurassic Coast.

Find out more about what we have planned for this celebration year, and how you can get involved.
