The Jurassic Coast Trust is collaborating with Bridport Tourist Information Centre and West Bay Discovery Centre to assist them with their social media. This role will focus on helping these organisations market their work, the town and coast, and also promote events being run by themselves and others.
Bridport Tourist Information Centre (TIC) and West Bay Discovery Centre (WBDC) are award-winning organisations who work together to provide visitors with quality information to enhance their stay, not only in those two places but across West Dorset. The TIC is centrally located in Bridport and is a thriving hub of information.
WBDC is housed in an old chapel by the beach of West Bay and is packed with exhibits about the history of the area. The Social Media and Visitor Assistant would be assisting the teams at both venues in both front of house and behind the scenes work.
The assistant will work with the teams to create social media posts to promote tourist activities in the Bridport and West Bay area. This will include Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and any other useful platforms. They will research and market all the local events and festivals so that visitors and locals can find out about what is going on in the area.
This will also provide a strengthened link between WBDC, Bridport TIC and the Jurassic Coast Trust, sharing tourism and event information useful to all three. Whilst based at the TIC and WBDC the role holder will also help the small teams with various other duties, such as dealing with and informing visitors on activities that they can do in Bridport and West Bay, assisting with ticket bookings and parking permits at the TIC, and cash handling. The post will be based between the TIC and WBDC with occasional home working if research is needed.
