Jeremy Pope, OBE, DL, FRAgS. served as Dorset’s High Sheriff for 2012/13. He is a qualified solicitor and worked for 30 years with his family firm, Eldridge, Pope & Co. retiring in 1999 as Chief Executive. Since then he has held various positions including Deputy Chairman of The South West of England RDA and the Chairmanship of several companies including Milk Link and English Farming & Food Partnerships. Until 2013 he was also the Vice Chairman of both the Dorset Olympic Board and the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, which hosted the sailing events during the London Olympic & Paralympic Games in 2012.
He has served as Chairman of the Spirit of the Sea Festival, Weymouth & Portland Maritime Festival and Dorset’s Destination Management Organisation ‘Destination Dorset’, now absorbed into Dorset’s Local Economic Partnership. He is also Trustee of The Tank Museum and SafeWise and was formerly a Trustee of the Friends of Portland Prison.
