As a landscape artist, I believe that no place compares to that in which the world has come alive to you, where you know every rock, every path, and all images are held so clearly in your mind. Being based in Dorset has enabled me to experience this and focus on my passion for painting.

Through the medium of the exciting vibrant images that I create, I try to depict my response and deep emotional attachment to my surroundings. I spend long periods walking, observing and sketching along the Jurassic Coast. I am motivated by the dramatic landforms and wildness of the coast and countryside, often returning to familiar places as well as seeking new inspiration.

For me, sketching a place has a far stronger impact than taking photographs. The kinaesthetic motion reinforces the feel of the land creating a physical connection with my surroundings. My drawings activate my memories – what the weather was like, how I was feeling, where I was standing, things like that. With a sketch I leave my imagination free when I come to complete my paintings.

My paintings aim to simplify the complexity of the landscape, drawing out the image and building and balancing shape and colour to reflect the strength, uniqueness and beauty of the scenery.

My original paintings are oils on canvas and come in various sizes. As well as this I produce prints and greetings cards and I am happy to take commissions. All my work is available to purchase, and if you would like more information or would like to purchase a painting, visit my website at, my Facebook at or email me.

I’ve chosen to become a Jurassic Coast Business Partner because my work is bound up in the Jurassic Coast, and being a Business Partner provides a wonderful forum to promote my work and the work of the Jurassic Coast Trust as well as being able to give some practical support to the work they do.
