My background has been in agricultural and estate management. I moved to Dorset in 1985 living in Powerstock, then at Cogden, Burton Bradstock and now in Salwayash.  I now run a company providing care for the elderly in their own homes locally.

I am an elected member of Dorset Council, the new unitary authority for local government in Dorset.  My ward is Chesil Bank, which comprises the coastal strip from West Bay to Chickerell. I have a keen interest in the coast and represent Dorset Council on The Local Government Association Coastal Special Interest Group, a national body, the Wessex Regional Flood and Coastal Committee, the Southern Inshore Fishing and Conservation Authority, the Dorset and East Devon FLAG and am sit on the harbours committee.

I have a keen interest in marine conservation and represent the LGA on a national steering committee reporting to DEFRA.  I am delighted to be the Dorset Council appointee to the Trust as this coastline has been my home and inspiration for nearly 35 years.

Mark’s Jurassic Coast Hotspot

My favourite stretch of the Jurassic Coast is Cogden Beach; I go there several times a week with my black labrador Poppy and marvel at its splendour and ever changing sea – enjoying the dramatic murmerations of starlings to the swathes of sea kale, rock poppies and bell campion.
