If you’re coming to the Jurassic Coast this half term, you’re in for a treat! Not only do you have a UNESCO World Heritage Site to explore but a host of museums, a tonne of activities especially for the holidays and some of the best attractions in the South West!

If you want to get out and about and exploring the beautiful scenery, you could always see how many stamps you can get in your passports while traversing the South West Coast Path or tackle the walk up to Golden Cap, where you can see some truly spectacular views.

Or why not head to Abbotsbury Swannery? Not only can you walk around the site in its all its glory but you can also get to see the spring cygnets as they start to make their way out of their nests. Throughout this year, you can also follow the Brambly Hedge Trail, giving you a unique way to learn more about the swans and their home.

Like the sound of meeting some cute animals? Monkey World is full of cute primates from around the world! If you visit on the bank holiday Monday, you can join in with their Go Nuts event where every child who brings an unopened bag of nuts for the monkeys will get a free badge! It isn’t just rescue monkeys you can befriend while visiting the Jurassic Coast, in Sidmouth you can get up close and personal with rehabilitated donkeys at the Donkey Sanctuary which is free to visit. During half term, you can follow Drizzle’s Green Guardians Trail, where you can learn more about the plants and insects that call the sanctuary home and how they contribute to the biodiversity of the area.

While you’re in Devon, why not do a spot of alpaca trekking with Bear House Alpacas? With treks running all year around, you can enjoy the beauty of the area with some very cute guides to help you along the way!

For something a little more exhilarating, make waves at Splashdown Waterpark in Poole – with popular rides like Black Thunder, The Screamer and the Mississippi Drifter, there is fluming good fun to be had all day long. Or check out Rockley – set within 96 acres, this adventure activity centre has everything you need to get the adrenaline pumping this half term.

Or to see the Jurassic Coast in a whole new way, book a cruise with Stuart Line Cruises. Over half term there are several themed cruises suitable for the whole family, including trips along the River Exe.

Elsewhere, indulge in some nostalgia with Seaton Tramway – you get the chance to ride on a tram through beautiful scenery between Seaton and Colyton and the kids will have the chance to get involved with the latest Story Tram event. The Pirate Tram, The Seaton Pearl will be embarking on a voyage through half term, with the chance to find some treasure which the kids will keep. There is also a dinosaur tram adventure on 26th May to enjoy!

Now you have some idea of what you can do while in the area, here are some suggestions of places to stay.

Nestled in the countryside just 15 minutes from the coast is Andrewshayes. Here you have the choice of top quality holiday homed or lodge style caravans with hot tubs and amazing views or set up your own home from home at one of their pitches, suitable for caravans, motorhomes and tents. Or try something different with a glamping pod! The kids will love spending time in the heated pool or the arcade room.

Newlands Holiday Park is another great option with easy access through the National Trust’s Stonebarrow estate and Golden Cap. The site also has its own gym, pool, sauna and toddler splash zone so there’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained.
