Jurassic Coast members win big at Dorset Tourism Awards

Businesses across Dorset celebrated on 1st February as 260 winners were awarded at the 11th Dorset Tourism Awards at Weymouth Pavilion.

The event saw a return to pre-pandemic numbers as hospitality businesses of all kinds were recognised for their excellence following a rigorous judging process. Many are also excited by the chance of onward progression to the regional South West and national Visit England awards.

Several Jurassic Coast-based businesses and charities were recognised at the awards, including the following:

Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award – Gold winner
Business Events Venue of the Year – Silver Winner
Large Visitor Attraction of the Year – Gold Winner
Wedding Venue of the Year – Bronze Winner
Winner of Winners

Coppet Hill Camping and Glamping, Bridport
Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year – Bronze Winner

Burnbake Forest Lodges and Campsite, Corfe Castle
Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year – Commended

Highlands End Holiday Park, Bridport
Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award – Gold Winner

Holiday Park of the Year – Gold Winner

Durdle Door Holiday Park, Wareham
Holiday Park of the Year – Silver Winner

In total 65 trophies were presented, including a Winner of Winners Award, which went to Dorset Museum.

Speaking about the awards, Cllr Millie Earl, BCP Council Portfolio Holder for Connected Communities, said: “It’s great to see that so many exceptional tourism businesses from the BCP area were represented at the Dorset Tourism Awards and I add my congratulations to all the winners.”

Awards organiser, Robin Baker of Services for Tourism, also commented, saying: “It want to add my congratulations to businesses that have literally wowed our independent judges. To deliver excellence in these times is a huge testament to their commitment and dedication.”
