Join Jurassic Coast Trust Ambassador Geoff Rowland and Moonfleet Manor’s Andrew Lawrence for an invigorating and informative walk, exploring the Fleet Lagoon and the geology of the Weymouth anticline.
Meet at Moonfleet Manor Hotel from 10:00am, for an introductory talk (10:30am) about the area and what you can expect to see on the walk. From here, we’ll set off at 11:00am, walking north-west along the coast to Langton Hive Point, then back, past the Hotel and south-east to Tidmoor Point. Return to Moonfleet Manor in time for lunch.
This route will take in the fossil oyster beds in the Frome Clay Formation at Langton Hive Point, abundant and diverse shell fragments (including brachiopods, bivalves, crinoids and echinoids) in the Slabs of Forest Marble near Moonfleet Hotel, and many more geological marvels.
Please note that facilities along this walk are limited to the Moonfleet Manor Hotel at the start of the walk, and the Elm Tree pub at Langton Herring. Parts of this walk will be muddy, so waterproof footwear, such as good walking boots or wellies, are required.
Tickets £5 per person, or half-price for Jurassic Coast Trust Members (visit our Membership page).
