Charmouth Beach

About

Join the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre's Marine Warden on a Seashore Safari to explore the fascinating creatures of the seashore and how they live, eat and adapt to their environment!

Get involved with Citizen Science! We will be hunting for shark and ray egg cases, which we will record for The Shark Trust to aid in their research, so they know which species lay eggs in our waters and how climatic factors and environmental changes may effect them. All equipment is provided.

Suitable for any age, this event is run at Charmouth and runs for 2 hours.

As the tide goes out the ledges here are exposed and rockpools, which are bursting with life, are revealed. Our experienced warden will help you to discover the amazing plants and animals living on our shores.

Charges: £10 Adult, £5 Child. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Meeting point: Red Life Buoy, Charmouth sea front.

Site information: Uneven ground with sand, pebbles and slippery boulders. Please be suitably dressed for the elements as it can get cold on the ledges even in the summer. Please wear footwear with good grip that you don’t mind getting wet, such as wellies or walking boots.

Please do not bring long-handled nets as they damage our rockpools. We provide small nets.
Distance: A short walk from the Centre over uneven rocks takes us to our sample site.

Booking is essential.

Please note car parks are very busy in Charmouth during the Easter holidays, so please allow plenty of time for parking.
