Across the last 14 years, thousands of holidaymakers at one of Dorset’s holiday park operators have achieved a remarkable fundraising landmark. West Dorset Leisure Holidays has raised over £100,000 for the Jurassic Coast Trust, helping to protect, conserve and educate people about the Jurassic Coast. 

As we come to the end of 2022, it is important to both reflect on and recognise the progress which has been made for the outcomes of the 2020-2025 Partnership Plan and the work undertaken by not only JCT, but also by other organisations who form the partnership committed to conserving and protecting the Dorset and East Devon World Heritage Site.

As previously noted, the Jurassic Coast Trust is investigating the feasibility of a new  museum dedicated to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site (JCWHS) and its outstanding geology, palaeontology and geomorphology. We are now inviting Expressions of Interest to carry out the Feasibility Study.

Last week, we launched a crowdfunding campaign intended to help us develop a feasibility study for a new museum dedicated to the outstanding geology, palaeontology and geomorphology of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

This week, we delve deeper into why this project has become an important priority for us and what else we will be doing to make this new museum a reality.

The Jurassic Coast Trust are calling for public support to catapult the development of a proposed new museum dedicated to the outstanding geology, palaeontology and geomorphology of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site with the launch of a crowdfunding platform and benefit event in early 2023.

Just like the 95 miles of protected Dorset and East Devon Coast, the organisation responsible for its protection and conservation, is evolving and changing.

In response to a turbulent couple of years and ongoing challenges, we have developed our business strategy which puts the conservation needs of the Site and wishes of the local communities at the heart of our work programme.

Jurassic Coast Trust Ambassador and marine photographer Steve Belasco has just published his latest book, The Jurassic Coast From The Sea… and it’s a bit special.

On Thursday 11^th August 2022, Jurassic Coast Trust Members had the opportunity to visit a working Portland Stone Quarry Mine – Albion Stone. The Isle of Portland in Dorset is famous for its stone quarrying. Portland stone has been used to build iconic structures like St Paul’s Cathedral, the British Museum and the United Nations HQ in New York.
