JCT are delighted to introduce our new team members, Mugdha and Georgia!
Mugdha joins us from Lancaster, she will be involved in our digital content project for the next 3 months. Mugdha, who is passionate about science communications, is a budding Volcanologist and an avid trekker. She completed her bachelors and masters in Geology from University of Pune, India. In an cademic and professional capacity, she has carried out numerous geological excursions in India ranging from igneous rocks of Deccan Traps to metamorphics of Himalayas.
Before moving to UK to pursue her second masters at Lancaster University, with Volcanology as a specialisation, she worked as an Assistant Professor of Geology and later as Scientific Editor for a publishing company. In addition, for the past four years, she has been associated with organizations actively working towards geoscience communication. If you do not find her wandering not-so-touristy regions with a geological hammer in one hand, she is probably out capturing the mountains.
Georgie joins us as our Seasonal Fossil Warden, you will see her working on the beaches of Charmouth and Lyme Regis until early September.
Georgie started collecting fossils along Lyme Regis and Charmouth in her childhood holidays and has been collecting ever since. Georgie describes experiencing the same joy and wonder she felt when she first started collecting 13 years ago, and loves being able to share that feeling with others too. In her spare time I take photos and videos of local marine life while scuba diving from local beaches. Georgie feels very lucky to be able to interact with both modern and extinct marine life in her day-to-day life. If you happen to bump into Georgie on the beach, please say hi!
